Stephen Krensky, SAE International, Michele Shortley

Paperback (SAE International, Dec. 3, 2012)
Once upon a time, all the trees on earth lived very close together. They enjoyed one another's company until the ground got a little too crowded. Then they had a problem. But what should they do next? This story teaches students through literature about seed dispersal and how things move throughout nature. In addition to a story that excites students in Science and Engineering, this book contains parent guided activities designed to encourage and enable parents and grandparents to introduce science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) concepts to young children through materials that can be found around the home.

  • Unique Like Me

    Sandra Baker

Paperback (WTL INTERNATIONAL, Feb. 1, 2017)
Unique like me was written to foster a positive sense of self and belonging for children who may look different from their family members. It also serves to generate acceptance and an understanding of this for children who may not directly identify. There is a need to understand that children may look different from their family members due to multi-racial ethnicity, adoption and even blended family scenarios. This important subject is addressed for a pre-school-to-first-grade audience through light text, and photos accompanied by charming drawings. The back of the book features a "colour-me-in" map tracking the nationalities of parents and grandparents.

  • Stories of the Sandman

    Anita Brown, Marie Hunt

Paperback (FEP International, Oct. 1, 2008)
These delightful children’s stories are timeless and will be enjoyed by every generation! Anita Brown was born on December 26, 1912 in Leland, Illinois. She attended and received her teaching degree from Northern Illinois University in 1932. She started her teaching career in a one room rural school house near Oregon, Illinois. Her duties included teaching grades one through twelve, as well as cooking lunch and cleaning the school. Anita met and married Grantford Brown in 1941. Soon after World War II started, he left his new bride at home and went to war in the South Pacific, leaving her at home to continue her teaching career. While she was pregnant with her son Ted in 1953, she started writing Stories of the Sandman for him, to help him cope with the trials of everyday life. She decided to write them in fairy tale form, so he might understand the lessons within them. She would sit up late at night in a closet, writing these stories by flashlight, so she would not disturb the rest of the family. Anita passed away in 1986 hoping that the Stories of the Sandman might someday be published. These delightful children’s stories are timeless and will be enjoyed by every generation!
